For October, we will read Beloved by Toni Morrison. Published in 1987, Beloved won the 1988 Pulitzer Prize for Fiction and remains a perennial favorite on Best American Fiction lists. What begins as something of a ghost story becomes infinitely more haunting and heartrending as Sethe, a former-slave living in Cincinnati, comes to believe her deceased child has returned as a spirit in the form of Beloved, a mysterious young woman.
