A telescope looking into the night sky

Aidan Colton will speak about the history of the Mauna Loa Observatory from its creation in 1956.
He will cover the evolution of atmospheric research over the years and discuss how objects in our atmosphere affect climate change and human health. The 5 main areas of research include: solar radiation, greenhouse gases, stratospheric ozone, ozone depleting molecules, and aerosols. Aidan will also share information about the effects that the recent Kilauea volcanic activity in 2018 had on the Mauna Loa observatory.
