Seed Saving Basics w/ Ilana Stout

July 16, 2018 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm

8 hands holding seeds

Learn to select and save high quality, locally adapted seeds for your home garden!  This workshop will include a brief discussion of the history and importance of saving seed and an overview of the basic reproductive biology of flowering plants.  Attendees will practice some of the basic skills needed to save and store seeds here in Hawai’i.  We will also discuss ways to ensure that varieties remain vigorous and true-to-type over successive generations.

Participants are encouraged to bring seeds for germination testing.

All programs are subject to change.  If you require an auxiliary aid or accommodation due to disability, please contact the library at least 7 days before the program date.
