Worm Composting with Leona Kassel and Chris Pascual

January 5, 2019 @ 10:00 am - 11:00 am

small pile of worms in soil

You are invited to attend this free Community Seed Library program to learn about vermicomposting, a simple process of collecting your kitchen food waste into a composting bin which requires very little space. Dark, damp and dinner are the three Ds of worm composting. Find out the best ways to set up a bin and maintain a healthy worm bin ecosystem over time, and how vermicompost can be used directly in the soil. Suggestions for how to harvest worm compost will also be shared. If you want to do the “rot” thing and get lots of help in the process, worm composting might be the perfect solution.

Our presenters, Leona Kassel and Chris Pascual, are experienced backyard worm farmers who have come to appreciate how composting worms can transform food waste into a highly nutritious soil amendment. They have presented for the CSL before, and we are fortunate to have them back to share their knowledge and experience.

This program is generously sponsored by the Friends of the Libraries, Kona (FOLK). Program schedule is subject to change. Contact the hosting library 15 days in advance to request a sign language interpreter or if special accommodations are needed.
