(CANCELLED) – Understanding Modern Art: A Presentation by Dr. Steve Miller

March 28, 2020 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

Monet - Water Lilies; Pollock - Autumn Rhythm #30

With many pictures, we will discuss the evolution of art styles from Impressionism (late 1800’s) to Abstract Impressionism (1950’s). This will help us understand, if not enjoy, abstract art. We will also show how abstract art freed artists to develop many of the current art styles. Dr. Miller, who graduated from Stanford Medical School, is an ophthalmologist retired from Kaiser Permanente in Honolulu. He has been an award-winning docent at the Honolulu Museum of Art for the past ten years.

If you need an auxiliary aid/service or other accommodation due to a disability, please contact the library at least 7 days prior to the program date. We will make every attempt to fulfill all requests for accommodations. All programs are subject to change. For a list of upcoming library events, visit www.librarieshawaii.org/events
