The Hawaiʻi State Public Library System shall operate in alignment with the Board-approved strategic plan, and in compliance with federal and state laws, applicable regulations and Board of Education policies. The following are the policies that have been approved by the Board of Education:

HOLIDAY CLOSURE | In observance of General Election Day, all public libraries will be closed on Tuesday, November 3, 2026.

HOLIDAY CLOSURE | In observance of Veterans Day, all public libraries will be closed on Wednesday, November 11, 2026.

HOLIDAY CLOSURE | In observance of Thanksgiving Day, all public libraries will be closed on Thursday, November 26, 2026.

HOLIDAY CLOSURE | In observance of Christmas Day, all public libraries will be closed on Friday, December 25, 2026.

ALERT | In preparation for the approaching storm, all Hawai‘i Island libraries will be closed Thursday and Friday, September 24 and 25, 2026. All Maui, Lānaʻi, and Moloka‘i libraries will be closed on Friday, September 25, 2026. Please check our website for updates and stay safe.
